What “public access” really means for your parking lot

What “public access” really means for your parking lot

Every site we take on has to stay open to the public. That sounds bigger than it is.

What it asks

The chargers and the spaces in front of them must be usable by drivers who are not your tenants, customers, or employees. Drivers need to be able to find the site, pull in, and charge.

What it does not ask

It does not mean giving up your whole lot. A first phase is a few chargers and a clear route in and out. The rest of your parking stays yours.

Hours and access

If the lot is gated or closes at night, tell us early. We check how and when drivers can get in, along with lighting and safety, as part of the six checks.

Why it matters

Public access is also a requirement for charging grants. Parking that cannot stay open to the public is usually a no, and we will tell you why.

Is your lot a fit?

Send us the address. It is free, there is no obligation, and you get a plain yes or no with the reason.
