What we check before we say yes to an EV charging site

What we check before we say yes to an EV charging site

Landowners ask the same thing first: will my lot work? We answer that on paper, for free, before anyone signs anything. Here is what we look at, in the order we look at it.

1. Location, visibility, and driver demand

Drivers have to find the chargers, and they need a reason to stop nearby. We look at where the site sits, how easy it is to see and reach, and whether people already travel past or park there.

2. Parking layout and space for a first phase

We need room for a few chargers and a clear way for cars to pull in and out. We do not need your whole lot. A first phase of charging can be small. More on what a first phase looks like.

3. Electrical service and the utility upgrade path

Chargers need real power. We look at what the property has now and what it would take to bring more. Sometimes the power is already nearby. Sometimes there is a way to get it. Sometimes there is not, and we say so.

4. Public access, safety, lighting, and the ADA route

Charging has to be usable by the public, including drivers with disabilities, and it has to feel safe after dark. Parking that can stay open to the public is a requirement.

5. Fit for charging grants

We pursue charging grants for eligible sites. Funding is competitive and never guaranteed, so we judge whether a site is a credible candidate. We do not promise an outcome.

6. A host structure that works for your ownership

Who owns the property, who controls it long-term, and who has to sign all matter. Better to sort that out on paper than halfway through a project.

What happens after the checks

You get a plain yes or no, with the reason. If it is a yes, the terms, including your payment, go in writing before anything is built. If it is a no, you get a straight answer and no sales pitch.

Is your lot a fit?

Send us the address. It is free, there is no obligation, and you get a plain yes or no with the reason.
