Level 2 vs. DC fast charging: what a landowner should know
Public chargers come in two broad kinds. Knowing the difference helps you understand what a site can support.
Level 2: slower, steady, and simpler
Level 2 chargers add range over hours. They suit places where cars sit for a long time: workplaces, apartment buildings, hotels, and civic sites. They need less power than fast chargers, so they are often easier to fit into existing electrical service.
DC fast charging: quicker, and more demanding
DC fast chargers add range far quicker, so drivers use them on the road and plan stops around them. They need much more power, which means the electrical service and the utility upgrade path matter a great deal. This is also the kind of charging that charging grants such as NEVI focus on.
Which one fits your lot?
It depends on how long people park, how much power is available nearby, and where the site sits. A shopping center drivers pass on a travel route is a different case from an office lot that fills at 8 a.m. We look at all of that in the evaluation, and tell you straight what fits.
The same for you either way
Whichever kind a site suits, the arrangement is the same: you host, we run it, and your payment is in the written agreement before anything is built. See what “we run it” covers.
